The Challenge
As a successful independent project management consultancy specializing in property and construction, Buro Four Project Services was diversifying and expanding. The energetic company was entering new sectors and locations together with servicing the increasing needs from its existing client base in both private and public sectors.
Prior to this diversification, Buro Four's management quickly recognized that such success and continued growth required a flexible, scalable, project accounting and resource management software solution. Their existing systems were a combination of separate applications across four different business units, each with specific requirements. Information was routinely re-keyed across systems, resulting in wasted time and resources. In addition, there was little real-time visibility into project, resource, or financial status across the organization.
With nearly 250 open projects at any given time, Buro Four needed to find a solution that combined resource management, project accounting, and real-time project visibility across Buro Four's four offices.

The Solution
Though they initially searched for a standalone resource management solution, Buro Four management was impressed by the comprehensive capabilities within Deltek Vision that would streamline the efficiency of their business and enable the centralisation of their project data.
Specifically designed for professional services firms, Deltek Vision automates and integrates the accounting, planning, tracking, and administration of both resources and projects. Management saw immediately that Vision would help to improve business performance, better manage shared resources across the organization and increase profitability. "Vision was chosen because it's not just accounts focused, but an enterprise-wide business system," said Steve Slade, Buro Four's Finance Director. "In addition, we're totally confident that Vision will easily be able to cope with any further expansion."
Over the course of several months, Deltek Vision gradually replaced the existing systems, and staff members were trained on the new modules. While the implementation was ongoing, Buro Four experienced no negative impacts running the day-to-day business. This was due to the seamless changeover to Vision, the tight linkage between Vision modules, and a comprehensive training plan.
When the implementation was complete, Buro Four had a newly transformed organization. "Before, everyone had their own way of entering and saving data for the specific output they needed. With Vision, we're all doing it one way and still getting the output we need," Slade reported. "It just makes our lives easier."

Additionally, Buro Four are impressed with the output provided by Vision. "So much of this information — utilisation, risk, cash flow — can get complicated, and needs to be provided in a clear and simple way," said Slade. "Vision provides it in a way that's easy to digest, internally and with our clients. That leads to better decisions and increased savings."
